Happy Friday everyone! The sun is out, the weekend is just a few hours away… I’d say it’s a good start to the day. Really quickly, it’s supposed to be extremely hot here in Chicago tomorrow so please be sure to take care of your pets! Here are a few quick tips from the ASPCA to keep in mind this weekend.
I have a special treat for today’s Rescue Confessions… my husband Chris answered the questions about his lady Roni. Roni is very particular about her human company. She and I have a mutual understanding that Chris comes first in her life. She loves him and lets him hold her, gives him kisses, and nuzzles his head after a shower. So, I thought it would be fun for Chris to answer questions about his girl Roni.
Chris’ Turn:
Tell us about your rescue! Name, age, breed, species??
Roni (Row-knee), she’s a 1 and a half, Torbie cat. We call her little bitty baby Roni, Roni baloney, and her favorite, Chunkaroni.
Where did you two first meet?
She was our foster at Anti-Cruelty. At five-weeks-old, she was in need of a “temporary” home. LOL – that worked out well.
Why did you decide to pursue adoption?
When it was time to give her back, we couldn’t handle the thought of her going to another home. She’s too cute!
How did you know they were “the one” (or two, or three!)?
She’s number two, a package deal with her brother Cheese. There was no turning back, she fell in love with us like we fell in love with her.
What advice do you have for someone who is deciding whether or not to adopt?
Adopting saves lives. There are a lot of animals who are incredibly cute and lovable that need a good home. If you are on the fence of getting a pet versus not getting a pet, I would highly recommend visiting a few shelters to see the different breeds. You will definitely find a pet that is purrrfect for you.
Anything else you’d like to share (favorite dates/stories/lessons learned)?
Roni has given me more happiness than I can possibly express. She greets me at the door, won’t leave my feet until I properly pet her, and has now allowed me to hold and cuddle her to the fullest. She is a diva and always gets what she wants. At the end of the day, the happiness she brings to my life on good and bad days is something I will never overlook.
Roni’s Turn:
Favorite toy:
Laser Pointer. It’s the funniest thing in the world. Go ahead and foster a cat and get yourself a laser pointer. That foster will become your cat in no time.
Most impressive trick:
I call it the two-step. She arches her back up and jumps twice when she is playing with her brother Cheese. Absolutely hysterical.
Least impressive trick:
“Don’t touch, look, think, or think about me, dad.” – Roni very often with side eye
I will do anything for:
Treats or food. Her nickname is Chunkaroni after all! She knows how to sit (only with treats).
Laser pointer or catnip?
Laser Pointer on catnip. Double whammy.
My favorite place:
On her green blanket. She makes biscuits and purrs incredibly loud. It’s so cute.
It drives my mother the craziest when…
She won’t leave Dad’s feet and keeps demanding pets to the point of exhaustion.
Likes to dress up? (Prove it!)
She gets more haircuts than me to stay pretty.
And there you have it. Our little bitty baby Roni. She doesn’t get as much camera time as my other two weirdos but that’s because she’s sort of a normal(ish) cat. She makes us laugh every day and she’s so cute it hurts.
Tune in next week for another Rescue Confessions!
xoxo,
Christine
