Animal Rescue isn’t just cats and dogs

Cats and dogs are the first animals that come to mind when we talk about animal rescue. There are so many more animals available for adoption than that!

What you need to be doing on walks with your dog

It’s here. Summer. My least favorite season. As a kid, I dreaded what lie ahead in this season… outdoor tennis camps, sticky beach vacations, and too many sunburns to count. It’s no surprise that I decided to switch to indoor activities in my adult life. There’s one thing though that can’t be avoided and that’s …

What I wish i could tell myself one year ago

Dear 32-year-old Christine, Today is your 33rd birthday and in one year, so much has happened. I know you were really looking forward to 32 and the truth is, you still should. It’s going to be a big year for you in ways you don’t expect. You’re going to be challenged with your mental, physical, …

Update: Six months on Antidepressants, how I’m feeling

Whew. Life has been… tricky lately. I’m so thankful to be feeling better both mentally and physically after my cancer scare. I had a follow-up appointment with my breast surgeon this week and she was very pleased with how everything is looking. I’m going to have another ultrasound in four weeks to keep an eye …

Well his adopter (@ahtziri_the_lion ) recently reached out with an update and boy is it a good one. Happy tears all around because this boy has certain hit the jackpot ❤️ times are hard for big dogs in rescue so celebrating these wins is crucial to keep spirits up. Congrats Max on finding your best home!

Meet the Table Setting kitten crew… Spork, Spoon Meet the Table Setting kitten crew… Spork, Spoon, Napkin, Goblet, and Saucer. Sadly, their sister Fork passed away this afternoon and of course it’s crushing. I take comfort knowing she was loved and safe and passed with @wearekittensmitten who I am so grateful to have on our team. The good news is her brothers and sisters are looking big and strong. They’re off to @shannongaydos for a longterm foster stay but just maybe they’ll be back again before making their way to @thecatcade.

I went to prom my senior year, but it was nothing I went to prom my senior year, but it was nothing like this. I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin in high school and I was so afraid to really be myself. The past weekend at @thecatcade prom was magical… I danced, laughed, cried, and chatted with the most wonderful people. Thank you to @sweetbells and @deadxstop for throwing one hell of a party. Thank you @orangeleotrio and team for wrangling all of us and being the best event planner. Thank you all for an awesome weekend - too many to tag!! Can’t wait to do it all again next year.
Probably the most wonderful thing I’ve ever seen Probably the most wonderful thing I’ve ever seen in the wild. Once hunted to the brink of extinction for their fur, the the Southern Sea Otter is now thriving off the Monterey coast. We were just walking along when we saw a mama otter with her baby. At one point, mama saw a wave coming and hoisted her little pup onto her stomach until the waters were calm again. She fluffed up his fur before diving down for more muscles to snack on. Baby otters’ fur is actually so dense that it can’t dive under water until its adult fur grows in. I don’t want to ever forget how magical it was to see an otter pup and his mom hanging and eating in peace. Save this earth because holy shit it is beautiful.
Nia’s story is heartbreaking but it reminds me t Nia’s story is heartbreaking but it reminds me that there are so many people who care and want to help animals. She is officially available for adoption through @secondcityk9 and would love a quiet home (maybe with a cat or two!) to call her own. Her ideal adopters would be patient and calm and like to snuggle on couches.

Been crying putting this video together. Way back Been crying putting this video together. Way back in 2018, I met Primo, a longterm dog at @anticruelty. After 150 days, he found his people and they named him @kylo.is.my.dog. Here is his story from his mom:

“A year prior to adopting, we were waiting to graduate and planning on moving in together and we talked all about the type of dog we wanted and literally spoke him into existence. I wanted to adopt a fun energetic pitty with wild ears that was a longer term dog and my husband wanted a normal puppy with normal ears (so we compromised obviously 😂).

We got the tour of Anti Cruelty Society and COMPLETELY BIPASSED KYLO (probably because his cage presence was not good and he was labeled intermediate). We told the person what about our lifestyle and what we were looking for in a companion and requested two dogs that we saw. They were so sweet but something just didn’t match up. We were about to leave and this other lady said, “can I show you one dog, please.” So we said duh obviously. Immediately when she brought Kylo out my husband fell in love. Surprisingly I was a little hesitant because I felt like we needed to think about how big of a commitment it was but my husband said, “he’s our dog.” The lady told us his story about needing the perfect family and we really felt like we were that family. Since then he has been the center of our life. It does not take long to fall in love with Kylo. My dad who is notorious for “disliking dogs” (he’s allergic so he’s never interacted with one) has a whole routine of getting himself ice cream AND Kylo a frosty paw after dinner so they can eat it together. It’s ridiculously adorable.

We both love this damn dog so freaking much we bought him a camper van so we can go on wild adventures with him. We love him so much my husband and I both have tattoos of him so we can bring him with us. He literally is the best, smartest, most handsome guy ever 🥰😭🥰😭🥰😭”
