This week flew by. I know, that’s an unpopular opinion, but with events and work, I’m shocked it’s already Friday. Speaking of events, I’ll be hosting the Roosevelt Collection National Dog Day Celebration. There will be wiener dog races so you won’t want to miss it, more details here. Today, because it’s Friday and I want to keep things fun, I’m sharing my favorite cruelty-free beauty products.
A little over a year ago, I began looking through my medicine cabinet at all the things I put on my face. Having been blogging about adoptable pets for almost six months, I realized it was time to care about all animals and put my money where my mouth was. Now, this was a very scary process because I’ve always had terrible skin so messing with my routine wasn’t something I was excited to do. I was addicted to Kiehl’s, Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Moroccan Oil, and so many brands that tested their products on animals. Don’t get me started on why we still test cosmetics on bunnies, that’s a whole other post.
After slowly changing and testing so many products, I finally feel like I have a good handle on what works and what doesn’t. I thought I’d share my favorites with you so you don’t have to spend money on products that are shit. Note, none of the products below are sponsored, nor is this post sponsored. All these items are ones I’ve tried and stand behind. I do use affiliate links so I may get a small (very small) amount if you purchase one of the items. I’ve also noted some products I’ve tried and hated… so shop on.
Facial Cleanser: Glossier – gentle yet efficient enough to remove my photo shoot makeup!
Avoid: Weleda Milk Cleanser – the worst!
Facial Moisturizer: Eminence – I use this one for day (hey SPF!) and this one for night. They’re a bit expensive but my skin loves them and I’m considering them an investment.
Toner: Cactus Water – micellar water is my favorite thing. When I haven’t work makeup that day, I’ll simply use this to cleanse my skin.
Facial Mask: Summer Fridays – the hype is real, I love this stuff and the instant glow it gives my skin.
Shampoo: I’m currently finishing off a bottle of Pureology, they’re owned by a brand that tests on animals so I’ll be trying something else soon – stay tuned!
Conditioner: Sake Bomb – I love this stuff, it smells amazing and it makes my hair so soft.
Deep Conditioner Treatment: Verb – So cheap and so effective, highly recommend
Leave-in Conditioner: It’s a 10 – This product is a lifesaver and has a cult following for a reason
Hairspray: Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity Spray – Smells like angels and keeps my hair soft yet structured.
Texturizing Spray: Drybar Triple Sec: I prefer this over the much-hyped Orbe spray!
Foundation: Drunk Elephant – technically this is a tinted moisturizer, but it gives me the perfect amount of coverage!
Mascara: Pacifica – Perhaps my saddest goodbye was my Chanel mascara, but this is a close second
Bronzer: Kat Von D – Let’s be honest, my bronzer is your concealer, yet I found this palette to look decent on my translucent skin
Eyeshadow: Anastasia Beverly Hills – I got this palette last Christmas and will be looking to add another palette this year
Lipstick: Glossier – I love the subtle colors and the way these taste (is that weird?)
Brow Gel: Glossier Boy Brow – I wear the blond and it’s just the right tint and texture
Deodorant: Crystal – It’s weird to wet your deodorant before putting it on, but I like how this one feels and keeps me stink-free. Usually.

I’m still experimenting with things but I’m feeling great about my products. They’re clean, cruelty-free, and usually vegan. It makes me happy knowing what I’m putting on my face and in my hair aligns with what I’m putting in my body. #SaveThemAll!
If you have any favorite cruelty-free cosmetics, please let me know in the comments below! I would love to add to my list!
THE RESCUES:
Tazer – One of those dogs that I immediately wanted someone in my family to adopt because she’s perfect. My family has a history of love for Labradors and she might break the mold. When we met Tazer, she ran up to Margaret and gave her the biggest hug. She immediately wanted to be a 70 lb. lap dog and we were okay with it. She’s the sweetest thing so please go adopt her…now. Her resume is here.
Stoch – Half dog, half I’m not sure what, this sweet guy is undergoing treatment for his mange. He’ll be available for adoption soon so be sure to check back!
Kaner – This boy is so beautiful, it’s no wonder he found his forever home! Congrats baby boy!
THE STYLE:
Another Lauren Conrad piece that I picked up in Los Angeles. I’m yearning for fall so I’m slowly channeling it through my wardrobe! I wore it off the shoulder for a more flirty vibe. The belt was key in creating more of a waist. Shop the look below!
xoxo,
Christine
