Pit Bull Mix Rescue Dog

event round-up: August

Coming at you on this beautiful Tuesday from sunny Michigan. My office walls have been replaced by patio furniture and the cityscape by white sand beaches. I won’t rub it in anymore, but I’m thoroughly enjoying this needed escape.

As I explained in this post, I’m working hard on this blog and I want to do big thaaangs with it. I don’t need to talk more about it, but let’s just say there’s a constant stream of things that need to get done. I don’t mean to hem and haw about how necessary vacation is because it’s necessary for everyone.

This post is short and sweet because there are so many events to get out and do, including three that yours truly is attending/hosting. The summer is coming to an end, but there’s no need to slow down on all the fun things happening in Chicago! Below is a list of events happening in and around the city, make sure to check one out!

You Guys, this is the day of all days!! If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pup or cat, this is the day to do it. All adoption fees are waived courtesy of NBC Universal, PetCo and VIP Pet Care. Nothing makes me more excited than seeing lines out the door at shelters on these days! For a full list of participating shelters, click here.

No need to RSVP, just come and enjoy yourself.

Shop for a Cause – August 24

Happy hours are always a good time, but add a good cause in there and you’ve got yourself a great time. There will be an open bar, free appetizers, and a raffle so you most certainly won’t want to miss out.

*Dog-friendly events, may have to purchase an additional ticket.

What a list! If you have an event to add, please let me know. I want to include as many as possible in these round-ups and get people out doing fun things for good!

August will be a busy month for me, but I’m so looking forward to all of it. Will you be at any of the events? Let me know if the comments below!

THE RESCUES:

I love when I can share happy updates! Both of these two lovebugs have found their forever home and really, I’m not surprised.

Buttercup was just a big sweetie and wanted all the love. I was more than happy to give it to her. She is a lab mix and is happily in her forever home!

Pinky is a spunky and affectionate girl who wanted to be my bff. I obviously let her. She would lean right against me and demand pets, which I had to oblige. Congrats to you Pinky, your new family is the lucky one!

THE RUNWAY:

Another day, another favorite piece from Sara Rose, my favorite (Peta approved!) local store with serious #girlgang power. I was originally given this top to wear with the black skirt, but after trying it with these pants, I couldn’t pass on the Miami vibes. Real talk: I hate white jeans. They never quite fit exactly how I’d like them to, but these actually are beyond comfortable. I got them on major discount at Anthro and loved the way the felt. I upped the entire ante with my current obsession, these shoes. I’ve had them for quite some time and have been saving them for the right post. The clear strap and nude ankle tie just seemed like the perfect way to bring the outfit to its full Miami Vice potential.
