Two years ago, I joined @thecatcade as a part-time Two years ago, I joined @thecatcade as a part-time staff member and the kittens have been thrilled since. I was actually really nervous to work with cats because I knew dogs so much better. I was also nervous to work with a bunch of people who liked punk music, had tattoos, and wild hair colors. Two years have gone by in a blur of fur, tears, and laughter. The things I’ve learned about cats are only second to things I’ve learned myself. I’m thankful this group of emo punks accepted this Swiftie horse girl because I truly love the work I do. Even if I get fired daily.

34 was full of learning. I’m not sure any other 34 was full of learning. I’m not sure any other year has taught me as much as this past year did. I examined my beliefs around body image, health, success, relationships, friendships, and love. Here’s to all the lessons (and animals) 35 has in store. Thank you for all the kind texts, messages, and calls. I appreciate them so much ❤️
This Sunday, I’m walking in @thecatcade 5k. It’s a virtual 5k that you can walk whenever you want, but as staff, we walk together with other 5k participants. This video of the Table Setting crew is just a small glimpse into the work we do. So much of it is made possible by donors, if you’d like to support the work we do, click the link in my stories to donate. Want to go a STEP further? Sign up for the 5k, join Team Christine, and come walk with us! More details in bio 🙂

The last two weeks, @thecatcade closed down for a The last two weeks, @thecatcade closed down for a staff break. All the cats go into foster homes and there’s a rotation of who is on call so the cats are still cared for. But then, we have time to rest, to practice some crucial self care because man, rescue is brutal. Compassion Fatigue is real and we’ve had a lot of tough stuff happen lately. Having these breaks is incredible and invaluable and I’m grateful to work for and org that understands that. So here’s a look at how I spent my Spring Break. Cover Photo is a barn owl named Naudi and I was ready to take her home.
Alright cat-loving friends (and everyone else!), I Alright cat-loving friends (and everyone else!), I need your help. Can you share this post?? My girl Nia needs a new foster asap as her current foster is leaving the country for 5 weeks on Monday. If she doesn’t get a foster, she’ll have to go to boarding where she will likely deteriorate. Nia has a really sad story, she was tied up outside for the first few years of her life, the neighbors would feed her scraps of food when they could. Through all seasons, Ania remained outdoors. Eventually, neighbors convinced the owners to surrender her to a local shelter and then @secondcityk9 took her from there.

Because she was tied up for years of her life, she has an immense amount of stress outdoors (shaking, barking, shutting down) so it’s been determined that a privacy fence will be best for her. When she’s inside, she’s the most wonderful dog. She really loves the companionship of cats and would do best in a quieter home. She is dog selective and would probably thrive as an only dog but she has played with quite a few. Let’s help Nia, a local girl with so much love left to give ❤️

Today I got to spend time at @chianimalcareandcont Today I got to spend time at @chianimalcareandcontrol with some new friends. Each one was perfect in their own unique way. It’s a hard time in rescue for big dogs and it can be disheartening. I just try to make the best of the time I get to hang with them and make sure they know they’re loved. Support your local shelter, they need you.
